My buddy and I had em dialed in while the water temps were wavering around 80 but as soon as the temp dropped and the patterns changed we've started searching to no avail... Haven't even been able to bring a fish up to the boat in the last few times we went out..

And before you jump all over me for fishing with the temps near 80, we're experienced fisherman that successfully landed and released 15 fish this season that swam away with glee. You should've seen the magic sparkles went shooting into the sky as they gracefully made their way back deep... I'm pretty sure it created a double rainbow one time...

Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated (depth, lures, substrate, etc). I'm a long time lurker and first time poster and appreciate all of the help that this forum has brought me.

Thanks,
Erock

Same report here... ever since the weather changed a few weeks ago can hardly get a follow..even before the weather change it wasnt very good.

It seems the weeds are really down for this time of yr, typically the milfoil is still hanging on by late Oct...i dont know what happened to the weeds on the west side of mntka.. you gotta go into 6 or 7 fow now to find weeds. and those weeds are average at best

No matter where you are fishing...cooling water temps in late summer/early fall tend to spark a movement of muskies to the shallows. Shallow cabbage, coontail, and milfoil are good places to start. Sometimes the outside edge isn't the key this time of year...you might have to fish inside the weeds or even the inside weed edge if one exists. The daytime bite in this shallow water can be almost non-existent on some clear water lakes. Night fishing is a must in my opinion.

Last few we've contacted in 4 different lakes came from under 2' of water.

The ones I have come in contact with in the last week have been in shallow water near sand, weeds and rocks. But it's been really tough finding them. Just need to keep after them - and whatelse is new when it comes to the elusive muskie.

I would think now through turnover fish could be expected to be had shallow. I've done well during the turnover period banging cranks on shallow rocks too.
