Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Rip N' Glide

Ok Jason, you have successfully managed to get the internet fishing world in a lather (myself included) over the release of the new Triple D. I will own at least one after the Chicago show.

The part that I find dissapointing is the absence of the RNG in the new product release for ERC. I got a peak at this bait when MRoberts was schooling the fish on Pelican during the Lakeview tourney there. I saw it in the water and that thing looks great. It is a tourney tested and proven bait that I NEED to get my paws on.

For some reason I have a hunch that you guys are hogging this bait to yourself. I saw another post that even alluded to the fact that your enjoying having these new tools all to yourselves. Come on man, cough up the RNG. I feel like a crack addict that needs a fix, you gotta help me. [:p]

RNG, ERC and tripple D.....

Boy with these names, its sounds like Sunday night on the WWF..now the WWE

Can you come up with a bait called the KGB....one that seeks out and investigates muskies, then takes them in for interagation.[;)] [:p]

Hey Jason wait until the B -I -G 's that start showing up on these baits. Even Triple H will be dwarfed by the mommas.he,he,he. But hey, some other muskie baits have names that are synomous with the Professional Wrestling Arena....such as the Undertaker.

Hi Norm, I believe the guys from ERC aren't releasing the RipNGlide until they tweek a few more things on the design. They wanted to make sure that everything is up to their standards before they release a bait. It isn't so much that we want to keep the bait for ourselves to "reep the benefits", but insure it's not another bait that will collect dust in the tackle box. No doubt they wouldn't mind releasing the bait as soon as possible, but they have to make sure everything is acceptable before selling it to the public.

I imagine the other members of ERC can elaborate further on the reasons, but that's what I know.

catch ya later,
Krappie

Hmmmm.... good observation Mr. Smith. Never noticed the acronym theme until now. Maybe ERC's next lure will be called MLTDSRCSWYWI..... which stands for Musky Lure That Does Some Really Cool Stuff When You Work It.[]

Norm, I appreciate your interest in the RnG. Its amazing all the considerations that go into a lure design. The RnG has been ready since last February, however we still are undecided about a few things. Thus, we chose not to sell it until we have had more time to "play" with it. The manufacturing capabilities of ERC allows us total control over bouyancy... and that is the big debate right now for the RnG. Should it be a high bouyancy bait or a little deeper running....... or both? Until all at ERC are in agreement over that... it will remain on the shelf (and continue to catch fish for us - heh heh). Once you release something... it is tough to change it, so we are trying to be patient. Hopefully you can respect our desire to get it right the first time. Sorry.

Also, I apologize for getting the "internet world all in a lather" but I've been biting my tongue for a long long time!!! It just feels good to finally get some things out in the open [:halo:]

Also, just because the RnG helped MRoberts take third place in the Pelican Lake tourney it does not mean its ready for the masses. Remember, he got outfished by two other boats... which means there is still something better out there (ha ha).

The RNG is a very interesting lure to say the least. One must pay close attention to it when casting, and starting the retreive, then the rest is a cinch, vibrates nicely. Personally wish it would rise a little quicker for the situations I use it in, but on the other had, the way it hung this spring, attracted a few hitters. Tough to get started in current at times, but once in, really digs. Cool invention that in time will be a success. My .02

We still need to do some "tweaking" on this lure. It is a very interesting lure

Great cold front lure. I have seen this lure trigger fish when NOTHING else has worked.

If you are a twitch bait or a jerk bait fisherman this lure is a must. It is sort of a hybrid of the 2 lures. God bless.

OE,

You think I would like this RNG?[:p]

Oneida Esox is correct. We are still "tweaking" this project... but we are VERY close. Here is a sample of the RnG body... but to show you more would give away some of its secret. This is a plastic body from the mold without the hardware (painted by Stan Durst). Prototyping beyond this point is really fun because it is like fishing with the real deal.

Divani, it will have an action similar to the wood bait you are making me from what I hear.[:)]

oh thanks todd. hey Jlong how did you find out about those baits I'm making for todd?? [] [] []

Divani, Jason does not know about the bait you are making me. I know about what the ripnglide is and the bait you are making. They will have some differences but in the same basic category. I was trying to make a comparison for you so you knew what the ripnglide was.[:)]

Hey Norm, I just wish I would have had the finished TripleD proto at that tourney. The first ones didn’t come out of the mold until the next week. I tried to get Jason, Matt and Mike to hold off on selling it this winter to get another year of testing. [] (he,he,he) Plain and simple the bait is ready and there is nothing more they could do to it. Dang It. Dad and I would have been unstoppable with the RnG and TripleD combo going next year. Don’t get me wrong we will be using that combo, but I have a feeling there may be a couple other TripleDs getting wet out there that same day.

By the way Jason! What Dad and I did to get third was all SKILL! What the guys who got first and second did was all just luck. You know that! [;)]

Nail a Pig!

When I first fished with the R-n-G I thought it was the most finesseable bait I ever used. Then I fished with the TripleD, (and please allow me to be the first to say) it is the greatest crankbait ever![;)] []
