| I planned on fishing all day on Saturday with my buddy Craig Eversol...but boy the weather was not looking good. We ended up launching at 8:18 and fished till 4:30....brutal! Was so cold you couldn't cast. We worked the breaks with 3 suckers using the trolling motor. At 9:20 my sucker gives a teeny tiny rip in 28 feet of water. I pick it up and felt weight but couldn't tell until I got a little head shake. Reeled all the way down and hit her hard....solid weight. Could tell right away she was a good fish from the weight! Craig does a great net job on a beautifully marked 45 incher. We get pictures etc then I have to rerig a sucker and pull us back up onto our spot since the 30 mph winds (10F wind-chill factor on Sat)had blown us off. We get back set and work about 20 yards and my sucker rod just starts screaming....I pick it up and look at Craig and said something like "should I hit this fish??" He said something like, "you better before you run out of line!" So I engage the reel and set back....pretty 39 incher. This is what you call a small feeding window. We fished rest of the day with nothing...but that was fine. Despite the weather those two fish kept us pretty jolly the rest of the day.
Great way to end the season!!

| Dude!!!!
And to think I could have been fishing with you...instead of sitting in a cold deer stand watching mutant bucks.
Nice fish!!!
Great JOB! |

| Good job Cory. That was a great way to end the season... and I didn't even catch a fish! I did get to reel in the mongo sucker though and I did get a new shirt out of the deal!!! I'll let Cory tell that story.

| Thanks Guys for the comments! Donnie you know you can grace my bow anytime.
Craig was running this large sucker, actually I think it was part pit bull, that kept grabbing the bottom and anything else it could. Well we had a tense moment as the clicker went off on fido and Craig grabs the rod and feels weight...a good amount of weight. Now, any beginner sucker fisherman would have surely set the hooks but Craig knew better. He kept steady pressure and reeled up slowly.....up comes a slightly worn T-shirt...very nice! We kept trolling for a pair a shoes but no luck.

| Wait just a minute Painter...How was it that you were able to outfish Eversoll? Last one to outfish him was his Mom...and she IS good. |

|
| Cory,
After the beating you took the 3rd week of August, EAT IT UP baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Steve - that is funny... but true! Maybe that would be a good thread to start here. How many of you muskie spuds out there have a Mom that fishes for muskies? And I mean more than a cast now and then. "My Mom can outfish your Mom!" I have the pictures to prove it too.
Painter didn't take beating earlier in the year... he was just pacing himself. No sense in wearing out those lures on the lower 50's! He's just waiting for the right girl to come along.
