I usually run braid while trolling but plan on trolling later into the fall this year and switched to 30 lb big game. I run offshore boards with the heavy adjustable clips on the front and the regular clips on the back. I have noticed the line nicking from the clips. Anyone have any suggestions to stop this..... Different line, putting some kind of padding on the clips, ect. Any suggestions are appreciated

30 lb. Mono Line is cheap, I would think you have at least 200' of mono on the reel. rip off the worn area and fish..Or just replace the old line.. mike

Continu fishing with the braid, no nicks, no need for wasting line.
The freeze up problem is not that big. The line from the spool to the water can freeze up, but in the water it is supple again.

But than again, the line i tight down to the lure.
Did you ever had a break off with a slightly frozen line ?

Had the same problem with 20 lb mono and the off shore planers with the Or18 snapper in the front and the normal ones at the rear.
Put the nylon back on the spools i bought it on and put back on the #65 pound power pro.
