I have been looking for quite a long time for a reel that would be lefty with a levelwind thaht would be able to burn double 10 and also that i would also be able to cast pounder with .... but i can't find any option . Right now my option are Avet reel with no levelwind and that's it ..... there his probally a lefty here that faced the same problem and that find a solution . |

| calcutta 401 te...thing does it all and its built like a tank. It may not have the line pick up of a trinidad, tranx, or saltist but it burns blades well and can cast pounders all day. |

Location: Not far enough north! | Ive got an avet sx two speed for a buck tail set up. I really like the two speed the low gear is just like a winch for easily bringing in hard to pull lures, with the option of burning with the high speed. I was having trouble with the line piling up on the right side of the reel so I put it on a TI telescopic rod and turned the guides a couple of degrees to the left and that solved that problem. So well in fact i never even have to bump the line anymore to keep it tracking well. This reel is good for straight retrieve lures. Any time I start twitching or ripping slack line builds up on the reel and casting with loose line without the levelwind can cause a heck of a mess... I have a 5.4 toro on my rubber rod. |

I also use Avets and love them.
You will need different reels for different baits.
For leftys is hard to beat avet for pulling large bucktails. |

Location: Tonka, MN | 401TE is your best bet for sure. Expensive, yet way worth it. You could try a Luna or Curado with a power handle but I haven't tried it. I"m not a fan of Avets for rubbers. All in all Shimano's are the way to go. |

So this is just about blades then? Theres nothing on the market that I know of with a level wind. Get the Avet Sx. I think diawa has a lefty comparable to the Trinidad but it's $500 if my memory serve me correct. |

| Beginning next year (2013), Penn is bring out a left-handed fathom levelwind in 20 size... I think it is a 4:6 ratio... so won't be a real burner, but should have plenty or torque for the large blades and big plastic.
Still waiting on that left-handed Tranx! |

| What about an Abu 7001. I have one and it works fine, it"s a big heavy S.O.B. but it turns the big doubles. I don"t know about burnin em in? They cost less than $200. |

Location: deephaven mn | i think the question was level wind. the daiwa saltist is a high speed level wind in lefty. daiwa also makes a saltiga( no level wind) comprable to a trinidad.

| 2 complete different animals if u ask me. You cannot burn bucktails as fast as you could with all the high speed reels out there and at the same time i probably wouldnt have a trinidad on my rod in november for rubber. Doesnt make sense to me. Yes calcuttas are built to take the abuse but as far as i am concerned even with a power handle, the gearing on the cutta cant reallly "burn" anywhere close to the high speed reels out their. Will the lower geared reels fatigue you less bringing in 10s and 13s of course but you dont have the 30inch plus retrieve and that aint "burnin" to me. I guess "burning" is a relative term! haha. Calcutta 400 will do everything you need for years, mayb just not as fast. |
