I'm wiring up a new 24v trolling motor. My boat has a 3 prong plug in the bow. The 3 prong male end has 3 wires coming out of it, a red, black and Orange. What is the Orange for? The trolling motor wiring only has a red and a black.

the black is the negative. And as for the red and orange, one is for a 12v hookup and one is for a 24v hook up. ignore if it's red or orange. and find the one that works

You might have to try wiring into each and see which spins faster to figure which is 12 volt and which is the 24 volt......if you don't have a volt meter.
