| This may be an elementary question but I just wanna make sure I understand this correctly. The reason people use fiberglass rods for fall suckers is b/c of its ability to withstand cold temperatures? Is this correct? Also what sucker rods do you guys recommend? I'm thinking about going with a couple of thorne bros glass rods. Any help would be much appreciated. |

For the most part you are correct. I also have kevlar integrated into my E-Glass composite rods for extra durability. You can see what they can handle from this video:

Location: South-Central PA | Fiberglass won't withstand cold temps any better than a graphite rod (not temps that you'll see fishing). The reason many guys use fiberglass rods is that they withstand and absorb shock better than graphite. Think about the way guys set the hook when sucker fishing. The rod goes from 0% load to 110% load in 0.05 seconds- fiberglass has a better ability to absorb that kind of shock than graphite. It has nothing to do with temperature.
