Headed up to Stony Point Campground for a long weekend for my 30th birthday. How's the bite? Weeds or rocks? This will by my 1st time up there. Just looking to get some time on the water and would appreciate any tips. I see a cold front will be moving in...

I was up there for the first time last week. In about 26 hrs of fishing we caught 5 up to 48.5" and lost 2. We found fish in the weeds and on rocks, the bigger fish we saw were on the rocks. Let me know how it goes.

Sounds promising! I've yet to boat a legal sized fish after 80-100hrs so far this year

Any bays, reefs, or points to try? Casting, trolling, or jigging?

I'll actually be up there this weekend as well at Stoney Pt. We will have the women with us so not sure how much muskie fishing will take place, but planning on getting out early in the mornings for ski's.

I was up on Leech last weekend for a few hours. I caught one and had another on. They seemed to be liking smaller lures for some reason. Good luck.

for those going to leech and bringing the women forget your women and fish for fat chicks. bring your women to a not so prime fishery to spend time with them.

Nocturnal- disregard the PM asking where you are. I gotta read better. From the Stony Point access head across Traders Bay and enter Agency Bay thru the Roosevelt Canal. Lots of weeds in there. Also try the Agency Narrows. Find Grandview Flats and spend spme time there hitting cabbage clumps. Try the North Bar off Pelican if ya want to fish the rocks. I'd be throwing reef hawgs, suicks and bulldawgs during the day and topwaters at dusk. Don't miss out on that last hour of light.
I'm on the way up Friday for 2 weeks.

i like williams game plan throw in a squirly bert and a spinnerbait too all other lures metioned will produce.

do u catch muskie still on squirly burts? i havent heard of anyone getting muskie on squirly burt's in years, hence i sold all mine i had.. maybe i need to get some more. thanks

I like the dawg, Suick and the reef hawgs cause they get down near the middle of the water column, move slower, and I think they trigger more neutral fish (which are more common than hot fish) that a topwater might not. My PB on a reef hawg and my biggest follow on a dawg. My topwater choices are Rumblers and Jackpots, and I have some homemade buzz baits that are weedless for the reeds. I twitch Slammers, troll double spinnerbaits and large slammers, never more than 15 ft. deep. That bout rounds it out.

yes
i still do had abig fish up in the spring on crankait my partner comes back gets my fish and to top it off uses my custom color sq bert.one of the most underrated baits out there.the crappie one works well at leech.

Got out Saturday morning with a buddy of mine. Decided to brave the waves and head to the Two Points area. One small follow up shallow. Got pretty wet and white knuckled on the way back in! Went out trolling for walleye Saturday night with 2 buddies. Caught 2 pike. One 27" that went in the box. A couple small walleyes that went back. One had something big on it until we went to net it. Huge pike or muskie. Had to reverse the boat and chase it for a bit because it was spooling me like crazy! That was fun, but only got to see it's belly as it dropped the 10" walleye and ran. Sunday late morning got out just me and the dog. Found a flat shallow rock to cabbage transition area set-up a drift and 2nd cast on a chartreuse / black Mepps Muskie Killer, had a push. Third cast into the drift and WAM! Just started into the figure 8 and the fish took violently! It stood up out of the water 3' in front of me tail-walking and head shaking. Sorry to say, it chucked the lure and was gone

I beat that spot up pretty good for the next couple hours and nothing. Lost an estimated 42"-45"er. Not my biggest, but definately the funnest! It was like something out of a Les Kouba painting or something. Trolled for walleye again Sunday night and it was slow but managed a 17-1/2" walter for the box. Not a bad weekend for the big 3-0!

Fished Sunday all day...three of us in the boat. Had 24 follows, each of us caught one, lost 2 others and missed 2. Most fish moved early on bucktails up until around noon. Afternoon we started moving fish on jerkbaits a bit more. Mostly rock and sand spots. Fish caught were 46, 38, 44. Saw one high 40's in all that. Majority of fish were low to mid 40's though so lots of fun!

Got out by myself on Tuesday and saw 8, fishing until noon. Moved one giant on West Bar on a bucktail. Thought she was going to eat as she accelerated towards my lure but she turned off at the boat. She was definitely pushing 50!
Moved a 46 inchish fish on Mann Lake that evening.

Went out on Tuesday afternoon, motor broke. Luckily was able to drift and trolling motor back to the landing...thankfully the wind was in my favor!

Trip was cut short due to motor issue but had a great time! Thanks to Guide Jim Flesch for taking me out on Sunday...he IS my brother so he SHOULD do those things for me!
