| I've been trying to troll the 7" shallow Slammer and have been having a hard time keeping the bait from popping out of the water at 3mph+.
What do I need to do to keep this bait wet?

| maybe add a weight in front of the leader to keep it down? I use longshank 4/0 hooks on it from VMC conecuts and these seem to make it lay a bit deeper in the surface. |

| To be honest with you, the 7 inch minnow was not designed to be trolled at higher speeds. It has a wide wobble for more flash and it works best when tritched or jerked. For trolling, the 6 or 7 inch diver (ran on a short line if depth is a issue)will be a better pick. |

| I can second that. the deep divers are great to troll 10-15 feet behind the boat! You can troll in any depth of water that way. So far I only used the 7" regular model for jerking/twitching. It does a good job for that technique.

| Yeah I kind of figured that they were a twitch bait more than a trolling bait.
I will stick to my Jakes for trolling but I like the color patterns on my Slammers better[:praise:] I'll give the deep diver model I have a shot on a short line.
Thanks guys....

| 8" and 10" minnow style slammers troll fine up to 3mph.
The 7" like Bill said is really a great jerkbait when twitched, great side to side stuff. I got some 7" ones that are tore up![;)] |

| I second what Jason said. The larger slammer shallow divers do troll well. |
