Location: SE Wisconsin | I bought the 2 ball quick release ram mount yesterday for my new Lawrance HDS-8. I get that the RAM mounts are to fit a multitude of electronics for different placements (GPS on a car dashboard, Laptop on a middle console, etc...), but am I mistaken that I need to drill pilot holes through the mount bracket of the Lawrance to align with the plate on the RAM mount? As of now, I can only align two of the holes on the plate with the bracket of the locater..
I just don't want to start drilling holes without asking the experts first if there is a RAM mount that fits the Lawrance exactly. Just looking for some advise. Thanks |

| I recently purchased a RAM-109-1A Single Swing Arm Mount Vertical for my HDS 8 and had zero problems with attaching my Lowrance bracket. (4) holes did lineup of the dozen or so pre-drilled holes in the mounting plateā¦. No drilling required here.

| I just installed the same unit on mine and had the same problem. I put in two extra holes and it works fine. |

Location: SE Wisconsin | Okay, so for some of the RAM models it lines up, others not so much. No biggie for me to drill pilot holes, I just figured I'd exchange for the "right" one if it existed, which I'm sure it does my patience is slim. |
