Posts: 620 Location: Seymour, WI | What size plano box do you use to hold Mag Dawgs and other big rubber? How many mag size dawgs can one box hold?

Posts: 245 | Plano 3730, two in each compartment so 8 total. Make sure not to mix colors too much! Cisco and white will easily get color from other baits.

Posts: 334 Location: Madison, WI | I made a mag dawg holder out of a milk crate and a $20 piece of plexiglass. I cut out the plexiglass so it would interlock and create compartments and I can hold 2 mag dawgs per hole, 1 pounder or 3 regulars with space to spare in each hole. There are 9 holes total so do the math. Very inexpensive and effective. I didnt like the PVC downspout method.

Posts: 334 Location: Madison, WI | Well i got in touch with my feminine side and i just plain didnt like the look of it But honestly the main reason was that the amount needed to fill the milk crate up actually created less space over all because they didnt fit perfectly. Also if a bait were to fall down, the opening was small and I couldnt get my hand down in there. To each their own, I prefer my method. It looks and functions nicer in my opinion.

Posts: 1083 | The 2" deep Plano boxes...Model 3731....no compartments...just one, big, wide open compartment. Can get 16 Mag Dawgs in one box no problem. Of course, they'll all be touching...so...you'll want to fill one with all like colors and materials so they don't bleed dark colors into light colors and different materials mating that would melt each other. Remember the Generation X material and the damage they did....careful with those. Those have to be stored all by themselves...if anyone has any of those still laying around. I store all my dawg-style baits in these 3731 boxes....regardless of size. I have boxes dedicated to regular dawgs, mag dawgs, pounders, other misc rubber baits, etc. Only time I used the 3730 boxes with the compartments is for crank baits to try and minimize the hooks tangling into other bait's hooks....but I still cram 25 lbs of lures in that 5 lb box~!

Posts: 334 Location: Madison, WI | Here is an example of what ive made up. This one is a box i keep in my trunk at all times. If you look on the lower left hand corner you can see it easily holds 3 mag dawgs. It actually is a mag medussa and a mag dawg and a regular dawg in there but you get the idea. This is actually the first box i made up, i bought very thick plexi and it is totally not needed. But i wanted to make sure it would hold up. Basically what i did was cut out 4 - 12"x10" sections ...then tape them all together and cut 2 slices 3/4 of the way through them. Then the sections will slide together and then as slide it into the crate. I made them 12" x 10" so that way the baits are not flush with the top of the crate making it easier to carry and rest things on without hooking anything or anyone Attachments ---------------- IMG_20120718_190212 (Copy).jpg (24KB - 164 downloads)

Posts: 334 Location: Madison, WI | No problem, be sure to post up pics once you make one (or two or three ) I really like this method compared to forking out loads of cash for muskie boxes. Yes they are nice and blah blah blah but i like to save cash to buy more lures. OH and be sure to use a circular saw or better yet a table saw, a jig saw will not work because it doesnt make cuts wide enough. I used a circular saw with a blade with small grooves for like masonary stuff. Google it, how to cut plexiglass.
