Posts: 50 Location: Hobart, Indiana | I'm heading to Cass Lake and Lake Bemidji on the 21st of this month. I'm afraid that if the weather doesn't get back down to normal I'm going to have a rough week of musky fishing. Was looking online at the water temps on those lakes and there in the high 70's. If the weather stays like this it's going to be a walleye and bass week. Not what I was looking forward too! We've caught big muskie's in the past few years at Cass but the weather was a lot cooler like the high 60's to mid 70's. Gonna be a lot different this time.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | 63 and raining up there now. Supposed to be a high of like 69 today. Drops to 56 tonight. High tomorrow of 83. That will go a long way to cooling the water.

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Northern Mn. in the next week will be highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the high 50s Recent storms have kept the water temps from rising a bit .... 73-75* where I'm at. Shallow bays are a little warmer. Yep,..61* and rain at Cass Lake right now. Maybe go further north to LOTW. if your concerned with hot water. Edited by Top H2O 7/6/2012 11:31 AM

Posts: 50 Location: Hobart, Indiana | I would go to LOTW's but I'm not familiar with the lake. Never been there. Just Cass, Bemidji and Vermillion in that area. But thanks maybe next time around.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | If you seek cooler water temps you won't be getting much of a reprieve on LOTW as water temps have been reported in the 80-84 degree range in the Angle and Sabaskong this week from several people I have spoken to.....

Muskybrian, you were lied to. Just got back from Sandy's and the surface temps were at 74 and falling. No one is going to cancel a week long trip they have planned to the Angle so it's a moot point anyway.

I don't believe I was "lied" to...Water temps were as high as 76 in some bays in the Angle as of last Saturday and they had several days in a row of mid 80's as a high early last week that brought up temps to 80 degrees in SOME bays....My point was nothing more then conditions on LOTW aren't going to be that drastic of a difference from let's say Bemidji, certainly wasn't suggesting anyone cancel a trip or not fish...Heading back myself this next weekend, excited for a prime July bite, hopefully the intense heat will be gone for awhile for all us in the Midwest after this passes

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I saw 80+ degree surface water temps last week on the LOTWs at times. It dropped some to the mid 70's or so, after the rains, winds, and cooler temps. Today I saw a high of 77 in some of the bays, and 74/75 in the open water areas. Just be real careful with the fish. Water release every fish possible and take very short photo sessions if that's something that you feel you need to do. These water temps can be hard on fish. Doug Johnson

Posts: 518 Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | LOTW'S is a lot like Vermillion just a lot more of it. You need a passport or a passport card. You should be OK on the big V just stay out of the bays, Fish the rockbars out in open water. Good fishing to you Marv.
