I'm doing some boat shopping, and have searched around about this topic and seem to come up with mixed reviews on it. I do a lot of camping/fishing trips where my only option is to beach my boat over night, or pull it out of the water. Just wondering how bad this effects a fiberglass boat. I would have a keel guard installed.

I personally would not leave mine beached very long, unless I had a double tie off/anchor where it could float away from bank and just wade to it again. I have seen a lot of them beached up overnight though. Guess it would depend a lot on the material. Soft muck/soil would be my choice, then sand.

Mine gets pretty trashed from beaching (black bottom) I have a keel guard but it doesn't protect it from scratches when you beach on sand or pebbles for that matter. I think my keel guard would work better on a hard surface like a ramp , but if the boat rocked it would probably hurt the chine's .

When I first got my boat I was a bit shy about beaching but I got this boat to use it so now I beach away and fix any chips when I get home .

I beach mine all the time in the late fall after the docks are out. Don't leave it overnight, but it wouldn't bother me to if the area was protected and not prone to getting slammed with wakes. KeelShield makes all the difference.

Nice powerpole , I wish I could fit one on my boat but I don't have the room.

How's the new yammi been treating you?

Been great! 375 hrs in three years of use (Didn't use it much last year due to my leg) and flawless. Blowing my two stroke was the best thing that ever happened.

This is an old pic from 09 or '10. Got two PP's now and it's changed how I fish...one is good, two are great!

Sand, no problem. You're going to get micro scratches in it no matter what. Canadian shield granite/greenstone? Maybe not.

I should probably just stop being lazy and anchor it off shore and wade in! That water sure does get cold in late October though!

Esox- I've been looking into the Power Poles also. Besides for how it's being used in the picture, what other situations do you use it in? In your opinion is it worth the price? 95% of my time is spent casting for muskie while on the move. But early summer I love to snag gills off the beds!

Thanks for the input everybody!

I love them. Too many uses to mention. They've changed how I fish and have put fish in the boat for me.
