We are looking at a 2001 Ranger 620VS with a 200 Mercury with a 9.9 Kicker and It looks amazing for big waters, but can you actually launch this beast and use it in smaller waters? Like Waconia, Independence? How about the trolling motor only lakes such as Harriet?

you talking about this lake Wiconia? http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/showreport.html?downum=10005900

3100 acres is plenty big for that boat!

Mainly worried about launching and loading in shallow docks

I have put mine in some pretty shallow and just plain crappy landings. Some of these are DNR stocked lakes of less than 100 acres. Works just fine.

Can i have some reasons why I should get the Deep V Ranger over a 18.5-20 Ft Bass Style Ranger?

No need to if you only fish small waters. But the 620 is an awesome boat.

Big/rough water ride quality.
Suitability for trolling; deep seating/rails (if you're a troller)
Windshield in November.
Kicker.
Room. Just my opinion, but it's easier to carry a muskie net in a 620 than in a 520.

Been running Ranger bass boats for the last 7 years prior to switching over to a 619 this year....There is absolutely little comparison and it is a night and day difference. Plenty more room when sitting on a pedestal seat versus a bench seat, the flexibility of having room in the back of the boat whether you keep in a casting deck or not ( rods, nets, tackle), and seemingly the same advantages of casting in the front and back with comfort and being fairly close to the water on figure 8's. Night and day difference of a ride in choppy water.....get the 620 and don't think twice, just be semi leery of the early 2000's Optimax engines as they have had a laundry list of problems and blown power heads from 99-02

99's were good too. Ask Capt Extreme. 2000-2001 had some injector and fuel rail issues on some engines. There were tech advisories for updates, and I'd bet any one of those running today had the updates and are just fine.

Found an awesome deal on a 19 foot bass style Ranger that even matches the truck perfect. Would you feel comfortable on Mille Lacs in that?

when it's flat calm? sure. I was out with Treats in his bassboat on Mille Lacs a few years ago. Hotter than heck, and flat calm. I wasn't skeert much. Only of his driving!

I probably wouldn't want to be out there when it gets riled up.

The 620 will also have a musky friendly live well for reviving a tired fish or transporting one during a tournament .

Bass boats only have one advantage and that is deck space, however 620 decks are huge and you have WAY more room for tackle boxes and nets. Also when it gets choppy i would much rather be in the deep v.
