This will be a fun one. Anybody got a lucky hat (or other garment/item) that they won't go fishing without?

Here is mine. It used to be tan, but it's been mucked up and washed so many times it's almost white. I know it's bad luck to wash it, but when you're out fishing and you keep wondering what the smell is and discover it's sitting on your head, it's probably time for a little soap. Looks pretty good on the outside, but the inside is falling apart. I make it a point to christen it in every new lake I fish by dunking it in the water and wearing it wet.

I think I'd have to quit fishing if I ever lost my hat...

I have a new lucky hat every year. I start the season with a new hat and if I land a fish thats my lucky hat if not I try a different hat each trip till I land a fish and thats my lucky hat. It must be tan or grey or a light colour not a head baker like black or navy. Fortunately I get a lot of free hats because this year it took 3 days to get the LUCKY HAT.

I've got a lucky hat that's so old and grimy when I get home it gets off my head and walks over to rack and hangs itself up. My wife won't touch it, it growls and hisses at her sometimes. Last time I had a slump I threatened to wash it and it hid in the trunk of my car for a month. It attracts some flies but if they land on it they become stuck, much like fly paper. And although not designed as an all-weather hat, it is now completely waterproof.

my lucky visor was being diss'd by my better half last week and i claimed she just didn't understand. it dutifully hung on the throttle lever of the boat when not in use and always traveled well. well, last week on the way back from racine, wi. i put another lucky hat underneath it (titleist0 and it must have become a kite, caught wind and blew both off the throttle and out of the boat.

so, if anyone finds my lucky lsu visor on 94/894/41/39/51 ... i will pay a reward. if you find the dirty red titleist hat you can keep the piece a crap. it's not welcome back after what it's done.

yesterday i bought a new visor at the musky shop (cuz fake concert cowboy hats are gay). well, the waters cooled to 76 degrees and i stuck a good fish on its maiden voyage so the new lucky visor is off to a good start.

if you're going to start another thread for lucky hoodie??? can't beat a sun-dried hodag rasslin' hoodie!! it fades to a pretty cool shade of green and green and purple are my lucky combination.

If you lived up here you would have so many of them in your pockets by the end of the day you couldn't keep your pants up they are a curse. Besides 1's and 2's they are talking a $5 coin. Have you tried our new plastic bills?

I find that my hats, much like the fish, run hot and cold. If I go out for the morning and don't see a fish, I'll switch the hat up for the afternoon. Yes, I realize this is completely asinine.

My old Ranger hat is near and dear to me, but it's so beaten up I stopped wearing it. Also got rid of the boat, so I couldn't be seen with a Ranger hat in another boat. What would people think?

I don't think that is asinine it's a perfectly logicial and normal reaction

My St. Croix hat seems to be working pretty good. I only wear it fishing, don't want it to start stinking too much.

My lucky hat from the past 5-6 years is so beaten up and torn that I don't wear it anymore. But I hung it on the wall next to my big fish pics because I couldn't stand to throw it out.

I have a lucky Keystone Retaining wall hat that I wear. I keep trying to wear different hats with varying degrees of "luck". If I am in a rut and am desparate to get a fish I pull out the old camoflauge keystone hat.

Funny topic, we where just talking about this in the boat last week. Had a 1989 Pewaukee Musky Classic hat that a Stripper at Weasels rubbed between her legs one night! That was my lucky hat for years but eventually the luck and crotch smell left so I retired it. Now I have a couple of Ranger hat's work good!

I got lotsa hats and shirts and favorite ones too, but not sure they are lucky for me. I'm not a big fan of luck and not sure I can define it. As always, proper prior planning prevents p--s poor performance.
