Considering adding hydraulic steering to my boat. Anyone ever done this before? Just started thinking about this. Does it make a big difference?

I am also considering adding hydraulic steering. Just wondering, does your motor have to be on for the hydraulic steering to work? Im wondering because I'm also going to be adding a kicker motor. If I just a connecting bar between motors, will the hydraulic steering work with the kicker when my big motor is not running?

No the motor doesn't have to be on for it to work.
Yes it can control your kicker if you join them.

Just swapped out my dual cable system on my '90 Hydrostream for the Teleflex Baystar Hydraulic system. What a difference! The wheel holds steady, no feedback, so much smoother, should have done it sooner. Bought my kit off ebay for $489 shipped.

I had no feedback on my last 2 and hydraulic on my 690vs. Either one is a huge upgrade. No fun fighting the steering all the time.
