Posts: 6 | I am heading up to Vermillion next weekend out of Big Bay and am wondering what the reports are like in that area? I've fished a few of the rocky spots in the past and had luck, but wondering if there are any other spots worth trying at this point in the season. Recommendations on lures to use. We'll probably only go early morning or just before sunset.

Posts: 6 | Unfortunately we likely won't make it to the West Side with the houseboat, but we'll hit a few favorite spots on the main bay in the morning and evening.

Posts: 6 | Anyone ever have luck with topwater lures on the big V? I've got a new creeper and a Hawg Wobbler I'd like to use, but seem to have most of my follows on bucktails only.

Posts: 201 | I just booked a trip to Vermillion on Oct 16th. Any advise on fall baits for up there? I am sure everyone and their mother is throwing mag dawgs and pounders by that time of year.

Posts: 6 | Well, the trip up there didn't turn up much. Just a lot of casting and zero topwater action. Our only hit came while ripping a bucktail pretty shallow over rocks. Gotta thank everyone for the advice. I think our biggest drawback was the fact that we were on a houseboat dingy without any trolling motor. Weather didn't cooperate either with no clouds, wind and very clear skies. Our bucktails basically pulled us around the lake.

Posts: 20211 Location: oswego, il | I was just at tranceffs on the other side of the bridge. that area was tough last week and there is a ton of 10" smallmouth in that section at least. there is also a ton of structure to fish right close, pay attention on some of those reefs, there are some deep rocks just off them in 15ft and I marked hooks there, so don't be afraid to cast away from the reef once in awhile.
