Posts: 87 | Looking for some opinions on this rod. What lures do you guys throw with it? Can it handle pounders all day? What do you like and what don't you like? Also how does the rod come shipped because i wont be able to buy it in person. Thanks!

Posts: 983 | Montei, do a search on these rods, you'll get a ton of posts about them...but to answer your question they're excellent rods and they're shipped in the rod tubes.

XXH for pounders and I really don't like to throw mags with the XH. It has a soft tip. I would say mag dawgs or smaller lures with mag dawgs being on the line. Great rod Double 8's ,topwater and smaller cranks.

Posts: 661 Location: Sussex, NJ | Great rods. Do a search like Ronix said and you'll get a ton of info. I love my 9' XH. The tip is soft and has some bend when throwing 10's but it can handle 10's fairly easy. I throw Medussas and Mag Dwags being the biggest and the rod flexs but still isn't too bad. They are worth the money

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | XXH for Pounders. The XH can throw them but all day everyday you will want the XXH for large 13oz+ lures. I actually use my XXH for almost everything but I like a stiffer rod. no jokes please James

Posts: 257 Location: Madison, WI | Montei, I just asked the same question about 2 weeks ago. I ended up getting a 9 foot XH, which will most likely be used exclusively for double cowgirls. I took it for a test drive and threw about 100 casts at a local pond. I really like it for the double 10s from what I saw. Casting is really great, without sacrificing too much on the figure 8. Some people would suggest the XXH for less flex in the figure 8, but then I think you're giving up too much in terms of casting distance probably. In any case, I anticipate that I will be really happy with the XH for the double 10s. Now as far as heavier baits, (bulldawgs, etc), I have a separate bulldawg rod for that, so I can't really say how the XH would handle those.(the XXH might be more appropriate for that application). But for double 10s, XH appears to be a winner. Hope that helps! "Jackpot" John Schroeder

Posts: 1887 Location: syracuse indiana | lol james i will be nice on that one..... and he is right , you would be better off using the mega xxh for the pounders, i also use it for almost all of my baits. but both rods will do just about anything and you will not be dissappointed with either one.. and if you can afford it get both then you will be all set

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I bought a 9' XH last year and used it for about everything in the box. I never felt like Mag Dawgs are borderline. Always felt like it was a perfect rod for Mag Dawgs. Threw a lot of double 10's with it too and it does a great job with them. I did throw some Pounders with it. If you lob them it does ok with Pounders. What I noticed was it loaded up a lot while ripping them back to the boat, which can wear you out at the end of the day. Casting distance into a stiff wind with a Pounder was a little less too since I didn't want to put too much muscle into the cast. I bought an XXH TI this year. Have not used it a LOT for Pounders yet, but when I have it has been as enjoyable as casting Pounders can be. Tosses them well and doesn't wear you out working them back to the boat. The XH is a great all purpose rod that will throw about anything. The XXH is an awesome Pounder rod. Tucker

Posts: 553 Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | I have fished lots of $200-350 rods; the TI 9' XH full cork is my favorite. Jackpotjohnny is spot on with his evaluation of the rod using 10's. It is THE BEST big minnowbait rod ever. It will twitch 10" Jakes like a dream and does not fatigue the angler. The fat cork and long handle allow for comfort and awesome casting. I am ordering a 9' MH and another 9' XH this fall.

It's really personal preference. I don't like rods to load much with heavy lures, so I would go with the XXH.
