Guys, I'm in my first year of musky fishing. I have put in about 50 hours and finally got one of these monsters to chow down. I'm looking for any tips that anyone is willing to give on summer muskies. I fish the metro twin cities area. I've been casting 5-12 of water on weed beds and mid lake flats and humps, and trolling ridges and breaks in deeper water. Anything will help towards my goal of putting more fish in the boat.

The fish ate a Top Raider in 4 feet of water and went 48 inches. Couldn't ask for more out of a first musky! Measured, picture taken, and back in the water in 20 seconds

Well now that you've caught your first theres no turning back, no matter how much you want to quit you can't. What your doing sounds good, try rock piles, a good summer technique is to use deep diving cranks and rubber to get down deeper, aka bombing the depths, but don't forget your weedlines. Good luck on your pursuit with these toothy critters.

NICE FISH! 50 hours for your first fish is very good. Sounds like you know what you're doing. Nice pic too.

Keep doing what you are doing and remember what other species of fish are doing in relation as you are looking for the top of the chain.

Nice fish! Congrats!
Took me 42.5 hours of dedicated fishing to land my first musky.
Hang with it, catch a feeding window, and there'll be times when you'll land multiple fish within an hour...
Fun! Fun!

That is an awesome fish! Summertime in the metro can be tough, just keep doing what youre doing. Later in the summer I like to burn bucktails in the weeds. Keep it up!
