| Our local river muskies love the prop-style topwater baits. The Topraider has been a consistent producer, but I'm looking for something with a different sound. What are your opinions on the whopper plopper? I picked one up with a Buy-One-Get-One coupon at my local tackle store. |

| I caught my first topwater musky on one last fall on about the 10th cast on the bait. The thing about them to me is they are heavier than a Topraider which creates a couple things: They cast better, but to me they are hard to get started as they kind of sink when they hit the surface. Weeds close to the surface that seems like it could be a problem. They also figure 8 better than a Topraider IMO because if you go subsurface on the 8 they don't turn over and I would rather have that forward hook hanging down not spinning around.

My dad just got one the other day. Much, much smaller than the regular version. He hasn't had it out yet, but it looks like it should be one of those lures that cleans up on bass and pike while looking for muskies. It should be easier for the older crowd to throw. |

Location: IGH Minnesota | Love the Whopper Plopper (WP) in fast water or chop. I have found a bit more sucess with the pacemaker on those calm days and certain bodies of water, but still stick a few on the WP under those conditions as well. Actually, the fish in my avatar came on the WP! |

Location: Contrarian Island | not a big fan of the whopper plopper, i had one, sold it...my gripe was that at the beginning of the cast you had to really give the one i had a "pop" to get the tail up and spinning...once spinning I did like the sound but didn't like how i had to pop it to get it going..if a guys gonna own a few "plop plops" imo hard to beat a good top raider, a lee lures chopper, smaller wood pacemaker, and maybe throw in a twist'd sister
Chopper you can tune to really POP! which at times they seem to prefer over a TRaider... same w the pacemaker at times they want that clankin! |

| i love my whopper plopped. that deep hollow sound drives the fish wild. and no matter how fast you reel it the lure will not roll like the raider and others. as long as you start reeling the bait as soon as it hits the water it will not sink. |

| They definitely need a kick start to run. I've had the same problem with Top Raiders, but they aren't as bad.
The smaller ones take a few cranks to get up and running like the large one. Both sizes sound about the same. Very excited to play with that more. Especially on small Canadian lakes filled with muskies, bass, and pike. I like throwing stuff and not knowing what's going to bite until it does. |

| Got my first on the whopper plopper last weekend went back out with it an had 2 muskies at the same time chasing it in both were in the 40's getting more an more confidence in this bait |

| I found that starting a whopper plooper by reeling very slow for first couple cranks will get it started without it sinking underwater for a bit. |
