Pal and I are looking at taking our boys for our first-ever Canadian fly-in trip during July of 2013. Will be crossing at International Falls.

I know there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on here so I'm looking for some tips where to go.
Here's what we're after:
*Stupid-easy walleye and/or bass fishing
*Opportunity for decent musky and/or pike fishing

I'll be sharing my boat with my 10 year old son. Him with his two sons, 12 and 16.

Two questions:
1. Lodge(s)?---
2. Early-Mid-Late July best?

I thank you in advance!

This is the easiest question I've seen on this board...
I fished there years ago, but still dream about that place.

I have been with this company twice...taking customers on trips and they agreed that these guys were great. Very helpful and very friendly. I'm certain there are lots of good ones...I'll use these folks again.
Good luck and have a great trip.

We're also looking at outpost fly-ins and see there are hundreds of lakes with outpost cabins. FOr those who have done outpost trips, what are your thoughts on your experience vs a lodge fly-in with regards to walleye fishing action? We'd be willing to sacrafice some amenities for faster easier walleye action.

Thanks again....yes, Don's place looks great!

Matttice Lake Outfitters-out of Armstrong, Ontario easiest/best walleye fishing i've experienced. 4 guys -1000+ walleyes 16-24'' average- in June. Northerns to boot. First class accomadations and service.

Went on one with my buddies for our 40th b-days. Loved it, can't wait to do it again, but the main lake we stayed on had no walleyes. Only lake trout, smallies, and pike. We had four other lakes to fish that had walleyes but had to hike to them. The hike from the main lake to the first one was a tough sob!! Over dead-falls, under dead-falls, up and down hills, through mud, etc. Doing that hike every day carrying all our rods, gear, bait, and liquid refreshment was not easy. So I would highly recommend making sure that the lake you stay on has what you want with other lakes only as a bonus. We had all the gear to handle what we had to do but the guys that came in after us were from Florida and only had flip-flops and boat-shoes. Guessing it wasn't a fun week for them.

Good luck!

This area is fantastic! Also try Ogoki Frontier. Both first class outfits. This is the flyin outpost type fishing. Each outfitter has different lakes. No muskies but big pike and the best walleye fishing. This area is north of Thunder Bay. Armstrong is at the end of the only road running north.

http://www.trophypikecanada.com/ I remember going here when I was growing up with my family. Still have nightmares about some of the huge pike my Dad would catch!
No muskies though...:(
