Location: Madison Wi. Chain | I have an older minnekota powerdrive trolling motor 24 volt 80 lb thrust. It is 8 years old and sometimes when it is having to work hard against waves, kicks off. It does not trip the breaker switch to the battery. I can usually get it going again by plugging it back in or messing with the connnections to the battery. Any idea of a more permanent fix or is this a sing of the apocalyse for the trolling motor and time to get it replaced? WH |

| I had this happen to my powerdrive V2 about 2 years ago. Not exactly the same thing, when I hit my pedal, sometimes I had power, sometimes not. When I brought it in, it was the control module ( or what ever the computer board is called), it cost me about 125-150 total to get it replaced. When I asked what makes them go out, the mechanic said, heavy use in current, and dragging weeds a lot contributes to it going out. It kind of sounds like thats what it might be. |

Location: Contrarian Island | take it to dorn midvale...if it's that old while he's fixing it have him clean the brushes in it...i had him do that to mine and now i have 20% more power and battery life...it's back to almost new...was well worth the $ |

Location: syracuse indiana | well i bet you this. take the 4 screws off the head and check the red + lead going down the shaft. its probly burned at the connector. it has a plastic sleave that covers the connector and its a cheap one they put in there. its for the tech's to change out the motor quickly mine did that and thats what it was . and if its tost let me know. i am looking for a 80 lb head and motor and shaft for mine. too cheap to buy a new one. i want a little more power than a 65 |

What BN said. If the older guy is still working on them at Dorn's, he really knows his stuff. I had similar issues three years ago, he fixed it and it has been working great ever since. |
