Vierkandt and Luedtke Win the Sugar Camp Chain and Big St. Event

The WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) hosted the ninth qualifying tournament of the 2012 Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) on the Sand/Dam Lake Chain and the Big St. Germain Lake on Saturday, June 23rd. Although the fishing conditions seemed to be idyllic for producing muskies during the tourney, only two muskies would be produced with both of the muskies coming from Dam Lake and none from Big St. Germain Lake. Most reports from the competitors had the action on the muskies as very good, with several big fish on and lost and many more seen, it just seemed that the muskies were “hitting short” and either getting off right away or during a longer battle.

The first muskie to be registered for the competition would come at 6:30am from Bob Dekker and Chip Bottrell with a 38.50 incher. The largest muskie of the day and the eventual winner would be landed by the team of Bill Vierkandt and Todd Luedtke at 7:29am with a 41.50 incher. Luedtke and Vierkandt would later relay that they were on fish all day long and had lost an upper thirty (30) inch class fish after the muskie made several trips next to the side of the boat. The victory for Vierkandt at the Sand/Dam and Big St. Germain Lake one day qualifier made Bill the only angler ever to have won three one-day qualifiers in a single season for the WMT Series.

The MUSKIE COUNTRY TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT™ Sand/Dam and Big St. Germain Lake tournament two places:
1st – Bill Vierkandt/Todd Luedtke
2nd – Bob Dekker/Chip Bottrell

The next tournaments for the MUSKIE COUNTRY TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT™ are held on the weekend of June 30th and July 1st at Lake Mohawksin in Tomahawk and Boom Lake in Rhinelander. Both tournaments have some open spots. If you are interested in one or both you can sign up for them the previous Friday, June 29 th at Sara Park on the shores of Lake Mohawksin starting at 5:30pm until 7:30pm. If you wish to compete in just the Boom Lake event you can sign up the previous Saturday June 30th at Pine Harbor Bar at 3999 Trails End Road from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

McCumber and Moe Win WMT Series™ Big Arbor Vitae Event

The WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) hosted the tenth qualifying tournament of the 2012 Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) on the Big Arbor Vitae Lake on Sunday, June 24 th. Although all of the competitors reported having a good amount of action on legal muskies, 34 inches or better, only one would fall prey to the tournament angler's offerings.

The first and only muskie to be registered for the competition would come at 8:45am by the team of Matt McCumber and Rod Moe that measured 36.50 inches. The duo was able to capture the only muskie and first place by concentrating their efforts fishing the deep edges of the vegetation with a soft-plastic swim bait called the Rubber Dubber that Matt McCumber produces and sells. Over the years the Rubber Dubber has won many tournaments, and placed high in many more, for the team of McCumber and Moe and has done equally well in the hands of fellow competitors on the tour.

The MUSKIE COUNTRY TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT™ Big Arbor Vitae Lake tournament top finishers were: 1st – Matt McCumber/Rod Moe
