Posts: 1096 Location: Hayward, WI | My 6 year old son got his first musky this weekend. He was using a Slurpie on 8lb line and fought it like a champ. I got lucky with the net job. After a quick photo and high 5 he agreed we should let it go so it can get bigger. One of the prettiest fish I have seen. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

But I do not believe it to be a tiger... caught quite a few with similar markings that I am positive were pures. Edited by MartinTD 6/18/2012 2:32 PM

Posts: 1096 Location: Hayward, WI | Not sure on the tiger thing either. We caught 3 differently marked fish in this same lake this weekend. One was standard pure musky, one was a tiger and this one. At first I thought it was a tiger, but then looking at pictures I am not so sure... Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Posts: 636 Location: Bloomington, MN | Congratulations to you son. He is doing better this year than the vast majority. This is definetly a Tiger/Hybrid. This variation almost always shows up in tea stained/tannic bodies of water. I've never seen one with this coloration stated from being caught from a "clear" lake. Their stripes do spread out a bit when they get bigger, but they will never look like a gin clear water tiger. They are a beautiful and unique fish. What a great Father's Day present!
