| I'm going to Sabaskong bay the last weekend in July for 5 days and was wondering if anyone could supply me with some tips. Spots if you're open to telling, lures, colors, any information that you can give me thats good for that time of the year would be great! I appreciate all information you can give everything is good! |

| Advice #1: don't over-think Lake of the Woods.
It's really not a difficult lake to fish. Focus on a few areas during your stay (like Blueberry Island, Hay Island, Raspberry Island, etc.). Any bay with a sandy beach in the back probably has weeds. Look for reeds along rock shorelines as these areas will usually have good weeds associated with the reeds. Look for broken rock symbols on your map. Keep bait choice stupid simple: bucktails and topwater. Dark hair and bright blades. Natural colors for anything else you want to bring. |

| Throwing bucktails/topwaters shallow would be a good start. Fish should be active and fast moving baits will allow you to cover water. Structure combos with weeds/rocks/deep water adjacent are premo. You're going to be up there during a great month. You shouldn't have much trouble finding fish unless something strange happens with the weather. If a spot looks good there are almost always fish nearby. Top lure for us up there last year was the Badwater Mogambo Bucktail with gold or copper blades. Teaser tail turned some followers into eaters versus a standard buck and it pulls a lot easier than 10s if you're putting in long hours (which you should, because it's worth it up there!).

| Thanks for the quick reply! I really appreciate it because some fisherman especially muskie fisherman aren't willing to share Their "secrets". Thanks and are there any specific topwaters that you would recommend? I have lots of bucktails and topwaters so if you could narrow it down that would be great. I will also order those lures you were talking about! |

| You've already disregarded advice #1; you're over-thinking it. What you have in your collection will work. If I didn't believe this to be 100% true I wouldn't be offering it as advice. |
