Posts: 91 | I know that this subject has been discussed many times, and I have done a search on it as well, but would like to know, that with all the new and tried and true items out there, what has been your favorite trolling reels? I'm thinking about a Shimano Tekota, but would like your input and advice. Thanks!

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | Don't waste your money on the over priced Shimano Tekota's. Get the Okuma Convector. Just as good & a lot less. A lot if not most of the trollers on St. Clair Use them. The guys on St. Clair that use the the Shimano's are the rich snobby types that think their special because they by all the overpriced stuff.

Posts: 588 | I use Okuma Magda's and they work well and are even cheaper than the Convector's, but I plan to start buying Convector's as my others get worn out.

Posts: 753 | I hardly consider an industructable reel for under $200.00 over priced... I love the Tekota's. Nothing worng with the Okuma's either; I do not use them but plenty of people do and they seem to be happy with them. If you have the $$ I would go Tekoa but that's just one mans opinion....

You're just a rich snobby type though. Don't worry, I'm one too. I use the Tekotas and love 'em. I have buddies who use the Okumas and are happy with them, but I'm a Shimano fan. If you don't have the $$$ for the Tekota, you'll be happy with the Okuma I suspect.

Posts: 921 Location: Apollo, PA | I have always used penns, but Capt Bigfish swears by the okuma catalinas, he fishes very big baits aggressively...... May have to try those. I have also heard great things about the tekotas. Tough decision
