Sometimes, when nothing else seems to be working, I'll work a 6" or 7.5" Phantom soft tail slowly right in the weeds, steering aroud them, letting it drop in pockets, swimming back up etc. What's been happening is that it is very successful at getting muskies to show, but I can't seem to get them to bite. When I work it this slow, I see then at about 6 feet from the boat just checking the lure out and then slowly sink back down and dissapear. I try to get in a few last taps to get it side to side, but I'm right at the transition point to breaking in to a figure 8. I don't know if I should try to get it side-to-side more at that point, speed it up and get into a figure 8 or what to get them to bite it.

instead of letting it drop at the pockets, kick it into high gear. really smoke it over the pockets and then keep it at a normal pace to keep the weeds out of the hooks when youre out of the pocket.
