My buddy and I have trolled for muskies our last couple trips out, using his downriggers. I know that a couple lures we were using such as depthraiders and Bagley Bang-O-B's should run a good 10' down when just trolling off the boat, so my question is, how deep will these run in addition to the depth of the ball. I imagine this is dependent on how far off the ball you run, so let's say we are fishing with the ball down 20' and the lure is 20' off the ball. How deep will this run? Are the lures buoyant enough at that depth that they will not dive much since they are already deep?

Thanks for your help.

Mark

The lenght of your lead line will determen how much deeper the bait will run under your ball. With a t 20 foot lead, I would think that most deep divers will be around 5 or so feet deeper.

Short line troll (with out a down rigger) to see how deep your baits are running. If your bait is running 5 feet down with 20 feet of line out, you'll know the bait will be 5 foot deeper than the ball. Playing around will be the only real way to find out.
