My fishing partner and I have been going to various Canadian lodges chasing big pike and sometimes lakers for a number of years and are constantly frustrated dealing with the standard cradles the typical lodge equips their boats with to land big fish. We are now planning on bringing our own net and are deciding between a Frabill Hibernet XL (Hiber-Net XL is 72-inches in length handle, with a triangular-shaped hoop that’s 31- by 27-inches wide and 32-inches deep.) versus a Frabill Power Stow with the 30" x 32" x 42" deep bag with 60" handle.

Lately, because of air fare costs, we have been driving to Canada (most recently Thompson) and then flying out on the lodge charter from there and have been told we can bring either of these types of nets.

We catch some fairly large pike 40" plus (PB 46") and the potential at some locations for lakers in the 36" to 40" range as well.

I'm wondering if anyone can offer some opinions on the Hibernet vs. the Powerstow.

Thanks

We have owned our lodge for 26 yrs and after that length of time you know what to provide for your guests we have all sizes available just for the asking and our guests know that and it's not an issue for the float plane ride or them coming commercially its just the way we do business. always calm waters to you. Mr. Pursch,

Thank you for the info. I will put Nielsen's on our bucket list of lodges. The lodges we have visited to date have all had cradles exclusively, no nets. This year again the lodage we are visiting is cradles only which is why we wish to bring a net. Mr. Pursch, perhaps you can offer some advice on a net that is compact and that can be easily flown in on a small commercial charter plane and is still suitable for larger lakers and pike (40" plus).

Thank you,

You definitely want to go with the Power Stow net imo. The Hibernet is a great net, but the Power Stow will definitely handle larger fish a lot easier and provide a bigger area to scoop bigger fish.

Thanks TJ.

I appreciate the feedback. Hoping to get a firsthand look at the PowerStow this weekend and pick one up assuming they have that size in stock.
