| About a month ago I had my local tackle shop send one of my C4's to a repair shop for new drag washers, cleaning and checking over. The reel is 3 years old and has seen minimal use as it was on a rod I didn't use often.
Used it yesterday for the first time..and now when working a jerk/glide bait the handle takes a short turn backwards instead of the instant anti-reverse kicking in right away.
Any suggestions on what to look for?
I'm going to start to try and make simple repairs myself. I own too many of these to start spending $30 service charge for easy repairs.
Thanks in advance...

| Send it to Abu-Garcia. I was having that problem, along with a number of others, with a 6500C4, sent it back....got it back from them a week later, no charge.

| I own five c3's and two c4's and so far they are trouble free (touch wood), but I have heard from several others that Abu has fixed their reels, out of warranty, and still done it for either minimal or no charge. Great company!![:)] |

| Before you send it off try flushing the anti reverse bearing with lighter fluid and re-oiling with a small amount of oil. The anti reverse bearings usally have some grease in them and as the temperature drops the grease becomes stiff which stops the gearing from working. Oil will cure the problem. |

| Thanks Tim...
Sounds like a good tip, the day I had it out it was cold...
I think I'll take it in the house and let it warm up and give it a try in warmer conditions.
