On the weekend of May 12th & 13th, the WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) will kick off the 2012 season with the first event on Lake Monona, Saturday the 12 th and the second qualifier the following Sunday on Lake Waubesa and Upper Mud Lake. Both Madison Chain tournaments are the first two of fourteen qualifying (one-day) tournaments for the Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) that will conclude with the top fifty teams qualifying for muskie fishing’s biggest prize at the WMT Series™ Championship™.

The WMT Series™ and our competitors have always enjoyed those years we made the Madison Chain a stop on the tour, and for very good reasons. The Madison Chain has always been a quality muskie fishery, giving our competitors a legitimate chance at a trophy fish with plenty of smaller muskies for our anglers to earn valuable points to qualify for the “big show”. Both the Lake Monona and Lake Waubesa tournaments will have a purse of $19,000.00 when the field of competitors reach seventy five (75) teams. The cost to compete in an MCTC™ event is $370 per two angler team for each event. Each of the one-day Madison Chain muskie tournaments still have some open spots remaining.

If you are interested in fishing Lake Monona and or Lake Waubesa tournament(s), you can register for the tournaments on line, or at the pre-tournament Friday night registration, May 11 th at the Badger Bowl at 506 E. Badger Road, Madison from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The awards for the Lake Monona tourney will be held on Saturday at the Badger Bowl starting at 5:00pm and the awards for the Lake Waubesa event will be Sunday at 5:00pm at Christy’s Landing on the western shores of Lake Waubesa.

The WMT Series™ events are open to the public. If you are interested in expanding your muskie knowledge and enjoying the competition with others who share your interest, log on to ww.WMTSeries.com web site or www.professionalmuskieanglercircuit.com for info and an entry form or you can call 715-277-4411.

Sponsors of the 2012 WMT Series™ are: Tooth Tamer Rods, Fittante Taxidermy, Tackle Industries Super D’s, Dream Catcher Bucktails & Tackle, T’s Tackle, Suick, Yakima Bait Company, Worden’s Lures, Poe’s, www.Mudpuppylures.com , Trophy Hunter Accessories – Glittertail, River Run Tackle, Super Slayer Tackle Company, Optimum Bait Company, Figure 8 Lures, Lucky Craft Lures, and Salmo Performance Fishing Lures.

Hey, I think you will be making a huge error in predicting a small turn-out (pay-out) for Pewaukee this weekend. Pewaukee has been one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) sell-out events for the last 4-5 years I have fished this trail. Plus, you get a chance to beat the Junkman on his own lake. I am predicting that it is going to take 80 inches of fish to win, there will be a big bite, a big crowd and you would be sorry to have missed it. Also, getting the fish-fry dinner at The Machine Shed during the Friday meeting (plus our own bartender) is likely to be one of the highlights of the tournament season. Hope to see you all there...I will be bringing my A-game!

Sometimes I wonder why I keep trying to grow the fields when I can't beat the ones who are already there.....but if this blind dog ever does get lucky enought to find a bone...I sure hope it's a big one. Honestly...this is always a fun time with a really nice crowd, hope to see you all there!

My tournament partner and i took 2nd place on Monona and we ended up winning sunday on Waubesa! Turnout was terrible so the payouts were very low and honestly disappointing. Junkman hope to keep the streak alive this weekend on Pewaukee so ill see you there! Good Luck!
