Was just wondering if you were forced to only fish with one crank bait at night what bait would you pick? Kinda got away from throwing crank baits at night as it seems everyone is throwing double 10's these days. Just curious as to what cranks baits would be the most popular night bait.

Great topic. Shallow Raider-jointed. Does anyone thing prefer a jointed crank bait over standard crankbait when night fishing....

Posts: 656 Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | If I am limited to 1 crankbait for fishing day or night it's going to be a Believer. That one lure can be used as a surface bait all the way down to 15 feet deep. No other crankbait is as versatile and if I can only pick 1 lure I want something that lets me cover the water column. I can fish it on top, over weeds, bang rocks, troll it, cast it, fish it deep. The hard part is picking the jointed or the solid body lure. The jointed makes a nice surface lure like a Hawg Wobbler, the solid can be used as a jerkbait. Ok, I want 2 lures both Believers, 1 solid and 1 jointed.

Posts: 3867 | horsehunter - why sure, I have the largest collection of nail polish of any of the other fellas around. My collection is fabulasss. Having a huge twitch bait that suspends allows following fish to really get a really good look. Moreover, the suspendo allows the following fish to stay with the crazy bait because for all that action yer not really moving the bait back to the boat very fast. It doesn't move fast, it doesn't go down below the fish, it doesn't come up fast, it just sits there in front or to the side of the fish, at or above the sight level of the fish if you have a deeper follow. Trip D's and Believers are floaters and never totally stall, at least not for long; they go down toward the bottom with a pull and float up toward the surface on the pause, in general. A well-balanced modified 10" Jake just sits on plane regardless of crazy action. And you can let it sit with a slightly tight line for a count of who knows how long. Never tried modifying DDDs or Believers to suspend. Hmmm.....
