Hey guys. I got a kick out of reading some replies on the "Muskies Eating Fur and Feathers" thread so I have a question. Does anyone use topwater lures to imitate birds or small mammals? Just wondering because that would be pretty cool to catch muskie on a lure like that.

Whether a muskie attacks one of these because they know it is a baby duck or gopher is unknown. My guess is that it will still just look like a wounded fish on the surface. But who knows, if it swims, it's food for a muskie. For all we know a muskie could think a topraider or weagle is a duck/small mammal.

Posts: 218 | A lot of anglers go by the old adage to start throwing surface baits when the baby ducks start appearing. In essence most surface baits like prop baits are mimicking some kind of small critter whether it's a bird, mammal, amphibian, or fish.
