I bout this motor and the guy told me that the impeller might need be changed. I don't know much about motors. But I put it on the water today and this part of the motor was getting very hot after just a min or two of running. This is why he thought the impeller needed to be changed, he told me he didn't know much either about motors. Is this normal that it gets hot? Any help would be very appreciated.

Looks like a Force build, they built the Sears engines for awhile. Probably needs a new impeller.

It's not real difficult, nor is it expensive for a dealer to do. The part is not expensive either.

What are other symptoms of a bad impeller?

I noticed my lower unit was a little warm when I loaded the other day and I've never noticed that before. The motor shoots a good stream though so I figured it was cooling fine... ???

Lower units will always be warm, that's exhaust heat. Hot isn't good though.

For sure. That motor could last you years if you use good oil, and take good care of it.

The shift needs to be disconnected. Impeller f436065-2 should be the correct part number.

There is a bolt thrught the shift shaft that you should be able to get to once the motor drops a little ways. Might try shifting motor into reverse to get it to drop a little more I think. Have not worked on one of theese in sometime and trying to go by memory.

Alright, I removed the bolt from shifter unit, and it still won't come off, is there something holding the drive shaft onto the motor?

I don't think that there is anything else that is holding it.
