was thinking of getting an on board charger. A minnekota 220 2 bank x 10 amp each. it has a 4-6 hour recharge time vs the 210 2 bank x 5 amp each. Was wondering if the 5 amp will charge fast enough overnight? i am running 2 12volts in parallel and use the trolling motor a lot, it is a 50lb thrust power drive. when i am out fishing i u=have about 5-8 hours for recharge time. seeing as how i need to charge both batteries figured this will be easier than trying to go out and change the charger in the middle of the night

I would recommend getting the 2 x 10 charger. The 2 x 5 will just be too small. The claim that the 2 x 10 has a 4-6 hour recharge time is not real accurate. The 10 amp /hr means it can only replace 10 amps per hour in each battery. Sooo, if you have two 115 amp deep cycle batterys in parallel and you run them both down to almost dead, you will need to be plugged in and charging for about 10 hours.

Thanks i was leaning that way, i have several friends that say the on board chargers are the way to go, the do a lot better job charging as well as maintaining the batteries

10 amp is better. and on board is the way to go. I will say thou, the Minn kota chargers are HUGE. make sure it fits in your boat. I have a 10 amp per bank Guest changer and it was lighter and thinner than the minn kota.

If you are running 2 batteries in parallel, you really only need 1 charger. A single 20 amp would work best.
