| I just got a 2005 165 cs navigator and it has a 12volt 50lb minnekota on it. it has two batteries hooked in parallel. Is this going to be big enough to handle a boat this size. my old boat had a 55lb and was much smaller. was thinking of moving up to a 70lb 24volt, but am going to have to wait for the $$ haha thanks |

| Why not try the set up you have before you spend your money. No one will know how the motor will handle your rig, so try it and them make a decision. |

Location: Cedarburg, Wisconsin | There is more than one way to fish with an electric motor. Seems like everyone is brainwashed into believing the only way to go is balls to the wall into the waves. Not so. I used a 12V with two batteries in parallel for years and there is always a way to fish an area if you are resourceful. Slip, control drift, or use the big motor if you have to. Sure a bigger trolling motor is nice, but it sure isn't nescessary to catch fish. When trolling motors first came out 50 lbs. thrust was unheard of and people still caught fish with a lot less. |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I completely disagree....change the trolling motor to the 70. It's better to be overpowered then underpowered, it's just a headache you don't need on the water and the days where the wind is whipping will make your money well spent |
