Posts: 128 | My spedo gauge is backed up and Ive tracked air being compressed all the way to the back of the motor where there is a relief in the tube. I wanted to undo this silver bullet piece to shoot compressed air in there to remove any extra debris and get more power to dis-lodge the clog. I got the clog removed from the outside near the lower unit but i think there is something else jammed way in there since I cant get air coming out of the hole on the lower unit yet. My problem is I have no idea how to unscrew or open this silver bullet looking bushing or adapter piece holding the tubes together, any ideas?? i've tried turning, pulling, pushing in and twisting etc.. I just dont want to break it! Edited by WBL_JL 4/4/2012 9:58 PM Attachments ---------------- IMAG0574.jpg (175KB - 115 downloads) IMAG0576.jpg (173KB - 125 downloads)

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hiya, Is the joint of the two pieces right in the middle? If so, I'm wondering if it like some fuel line connectors on a car (many of which are around a fuel filter (like on a ford or Dodge truck, it's along the main frame of the vehicle on driver's side). Posts: 128 | Steve, The tube is actually all one piece, the only place it would come apart is on either end. You can see the indent on the the piece about a 1/4 inch in on either side, other than that the piece is solid. The motor is a 2000 Mercury Xr6

It just seems that if I were to ever disconnect my lower unit, wouldnt you some how need to disconnect the tube that runs from the unit that reads your pressure for your speed? ..

Posts: 128 | OK so I read this from another forum for my same motor ( he is trying to replace his impellar but asked how to remove the lower unit) the very end of the part I copy/pasted is the piece he says disconnect the tube that supplys water to your spedometer located in front of the lower unit(thats the piece I am talking about).. BUT HOW DO YOU DISCONNECT IT?? To remove your lower unit, just follow the steps below. I assume you are probably removing it to change the impeller. Step 1: Make sure the motor is shifted to NEUTRAL Step 2: Tilt the motor all the way up Step 3: Remove the trim tab (mark it's position so you can install it in the same spot) Step 4: Remove the bolt that is located inside the trim tab cavity Step 5: Loosen the mounting nuts (or bolts) that mount the lower unit to the midsection. Do not remove the nuts completely, but loosen them all the way. The lower unit is now free to come off. When the lower unit is loose and falls down to the loosened mounting nuts, you can take the nuts off. Drop the lower unit just enough to remove the small plastic tube from the front of the lower unit. This tube supplies water to your speedometer.

Location: Eastern Ontario | Will the whole tube not just pull off a barbed fitting at the lower unit
