Do any of you have homemade options for tackle storage on the pedestal of your front casting decks? I have seen the ones they sell, but they seem pretty expensive. I would imagine there is a "do it yourself" option?

Lots of ideas on here in the past, do a search and you will find them. I spent the cash on a Pedestal Pal and love it. Worth every penny to me, but I can certainly understand not wanting to drop that kind of coin.

Not sure if it was you that started the other thread about making your own storage or if you even saw the post...

However, my father uses PBC piping around his pedestal. Just cut them to the size you want and messure it out around the seat. Once you find what you are looking for you can do it one of two way in my experience.

1st - you can drill a hole around the top and thr bottom on the inside closes to the bar, take some extra left over line and tie all of them together. That way if you want to change one of them out you can just clip the line and switch it if need be.

2nd - The easier but less optional way. Again figure out how you want them set up, and take a little bit of crazy glue and glue them all together.. Only down side though with this one is you will not be able to change out individual tubes. If you don't like one or it's to small or too big... you're kinda stuck.

Those are the two that I have seen. My buddy uses the glue style, my father has the line style. Both work, neither are pretty... but who cares

Cut a hole in the bottom of a small plastic pail.......or you could glue 9 lengths of plastic downspout in 3 rows of 3 and run the post through the center one .......... or put them inside the plastic pail .......haven't tried any of these just thinking out loud

Thanks for the tips. I tried searching it on here, but the key words I am using must not be the right ones. I can't seem to pull anything up. I will keep trying.

I just made this one yesterday. Definitely not pretty, but am excited with how it turned out. I used two different sizes of PVC (because I ran out of the first size) and connected them with zip-ties. The one big piece of PVC will be the designated Pounder spot.

I have also used drain spouts before as well, same result.

I know you are looking for a home fix for lure storage around you pedestal, but I went a different direction… This is a cheap, easy, simple fix that works for me. There is nothing wrong with the PVC pipe I just prefer this method. Also, this probably won’t work if you have a glass boat.

First of all I can NOT take credit for this because I replicated this from my buddy’s boat! So no its not an original idea!

I just bought a piece of angle aluminum, drilled holes, and rounded the corners off. I mounted one in the front and one in the back and called it good. It works for me just thought I would share.

Good Luck!

That is another great idea. I think I may implement one of those along with some pvc around the pedestal. What size angle was that you used and what size hole did you drill?

Musky_Hunter79's idea is a good one, just be careful. I was doing a similar thing in a buddy's boat, hanging lures down the gunnel beside sitting passenger. We weren't even fishing, not paying attention I turned around and ended up with a Wiley stuck deep in my arm. I don't hang lures there anymore.

make sure you know where the gas tank and wiring is before drilling any holes or tapping screws. i've seen that become a problem too.

PVC pipe + pvc glue + a jigsaw + spray paint = $10 lure holder
