Not sure what it is called but the trim up and down toggle on the throttle lever doesnt work, the down works but not the up.
Anyone ever replace it or fix it?
What all is involved?
Easy enough or just bring it in and get fixed?

Thanks

If it is an older motor I would check the fluid level first.

everything works, the trim toggle on the motor works up and down and the down toggle on the throttle, just not the up.
Thanks

I did mine last year, hardest part was finding the part. I wouldn't say it's really easy, but it's not that difficult if you have the right tools and can do some basic wiring.

With the trim switch on the motor working in both directions, it has to be either a bad switch in the throttle handle, or a broken wire from that switch to the motor. Possibly you could take an ohm meter and check continuity from the up terminal on the motor switch to the up terminal on the throttle handle switch. If the wire is sound, it has to be the switch itself.

I had an identical problem a few years ago on a Johnson. One of the wires had broken inside the throttle lever where it pivots at the base.

Mine was a 1996 Merc 150. I had to break a round plastic piece at the base of the throttle lever to get at the bolt that holds the lever on. When I took the part into the shop they asked if I needed the piece I broke before I even asked. Point is, don't be afraid to break that piece, it's a couple bucks and basically unavoidable.
