Do you work your creature like a jig?Or let it swim all over the place?

How I seen the in-fisherman guys do it is, they don't use the rod to impart action, just the reel. They reel about five cranks and let it drop, repeat the process. If it hits weeds, rip it out. I definitley nee to give this more time on the water.

Eric,

Creatures/Reapers
Most often I let mine fall, give it 3-4 quick turns of the handle to make it jump off the bottom and let it fall again. They will most always hit it on the fall.

Jig n' pig/plastic
Let it fall and drag it along the bottom sort of bounce it along.

I use the first method most often but Muskyone/Mike tought me to fish'em like I used to fish Bass. It works..! They can't see below them but they will almost stand on their head to eat it.

I also love to swim the Curtis Creature through the weeds and over rocks. Same method as #1 just don't let it fall all the way to the bottom.

All methods work and work well, you need to use a visible line color that you can watch, the line will jump when they hit it, when that happens set the hook immediately.

Read on another post your are fishing with Worrall this weekend. You spend and hour with him fishing creatures and you will learn what would take you a full season to figure out on your own. He and Muskyone/Mike have different styles but I consider them some of the best in the business.

Good luck,

Mark

The colder the water.....the slower the motion. I drag my jigs and creatures a lot. As in all of the time if possible. I use my rod to move the lure and then reel up the slack. Lots of guys swim and hop them. Both methods surley seem to work. I have never fished a creature with a swimming head so I can't compare this to the way that I fish the creature. I do, however get a lot of strikes when "popping" the jig free of weeds.
I just put the finishing touches on a new jig mold. Weedless with a 7/0 hook, tapered head for in the weeds. Total of 6 strikes so far, 5 fish boated. I think I got it right this time. I like it better than the jig I designed for Oddessey lures a few years back. Before you guys ask, No I am not going into the business again, these are not for sale only for myself and a couple of close friends. I might be talked into a trade however.

I see where your comming from now with dragging them.Ill try both ways and mix it up this weekend.

I need a good day in the shop to pound out a swimhead jig mold. And a day to make a better creature mold.
