Posts: 19 Location: Central WI | Has anyone fished the upper river basin for Muskies? I am looking at some property by Ojibwa and I am looking for information on how the river is for fish, either size or quantity of fish.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | That stretch is dynamite, size and numbers. Get yourself a drift boat if you don't already have one.

Posts: 25 Location: Hayward, WI | It's not a river for numbers...you have to put your time in to get a fish.

Posts: 152 | This is a numbers area as well as a big fish factory . Baits like any of the double bladed bucktails are a good bet. Musky Snax suckers are another nice bait to throw up their . Its got plenty of fish and less pressure then most of the lakes in the area so fish are less hook shy . A drift boat is critical with a pole or big oar to help get off the shallow spots your bound to run into but a good tiller trolling motor will get you where you want to go ! Sweet stretch good luck

Posts: 440 | While you are looking at the property stop in at the Wanigon. Used to be a few pictures and mounts on the wall from the river. There is a guide by the name of Mike Cookas that knows a little about the river also. Edited by ChadG 3/30/2012 10:37 AM

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Speaking to below the Winter dam and to radison and south, like Matt said, is not numbers water like the flambeau river for Muskies. Many many low years has not helped the population but as mentioned, some good ones to be had when you hit it right.

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Not too bad of a stretch. We watched a buaby duck disappear one day floating it. We are only less than a mile from there. Hope to float it more this year.
