Posts: 663 | Just a little heads up. Not everyone receives the catalogs at the same time even if you're close. The catalogs ship by bulk mail so when they arrive at your local post office, that facility can/may hold them for up to two weeks. This is usually dependent on how much other bulk mail they have to deliver. If you've usually received the catalog before just be a little patient it should be there soon. If you haven't received them by mail in the past call the shop and we can get you into rotation for the next batch mailing out.

Location: 31 | I have ordered stuff from Rollie & Helen's, but really don't need or want the catalog. Mainly because I'm constantly throwing Bass Pro shops, Cabala’s etc. in the garbage… lots of wasted/unused paper. As a matter of fact, these catalogs will be history in the near future in lieu of a little snail mail postcard promotion that advertises their website. I bet you guys would get a lot less phone orders if you started a little online order discount deal... just something to think about.

Posts: 663 | Jerry, in fact there ARE discounts on numerous items online as well as some shipping discounts. While the world in general is moving in the direction of a paperless system of ordering I can't tell you how many people tell us they love the print catalog and keep them for years as a resource or just enjoy collecting. If nothing else ya gotta have something to occupy your time in the "think tank". Every year we get a few folks who contact us and request being removed from the mailing list for the very reason you state but since we distribute 70,000 of these catalogs around the world every year it seems like the vast majority of the public want us to keep it up. As regards the phone vs. online orders we probably receive 85% of the orders through the online site however we get a lot of people who either have questions or prefer the personal connection of talking to a live person to place their orders and that makes up the balance. Who knows exactly what the future will bring but for now we are trying our best to serve the musky/pike public the best we can. Always looking for better ways of doing it of course.

Posts: 676 Location: Wisconsin | I work in the technology industry, do the vast majority of my shopping online (Amazon, BPS, Cabelas, etc) and I can't wait to get the catalogs in the mail. Maybe it's old school, but I'd rather flip pages than browse a website for lures. Plus, no offense to anyone, but the websites out there (retail) for lures primarily are a mess to sort and glance at. I hate seeing 1 of 25 pages...blah.

Location: 31 | I'm old school with some things too but the amount of catalogs I get from Bass Pro, etc. is mind-boggling (not so much places like R&H). When I pile these on top of the catalogs my wife gets every month, it's pretty wasteful... most of the time we don't even look at them. Okay maybe those Victoria secret's aren't so wasteful......... I throw the master catalogs in my vehicle and thumb through them when I'm bored, and will occasionally do a phone order if I'm on the road, but typically just wait and order online. It's kind of interesting to contemplate where society will be at 10-20 years from now with this.

It's so much easier finding stuff in a catalog than it is online. And you can take a catalog almost anywhere. I've worn the binding off of every Bass Pro Master Fishing catalog I've ever owned and my Musky Shop catalogs are beaten and abused. I get excited every time I see a fishing catalog in the mailbox and I'll be disappointed if they ever stop sending them out.

Posts: 619 Location: Verona, WI | I work on some projects with Lands End and others and they will tell you that it's the catalogs in peoples hands that drive sales. They have created Ipad apps with full catalogs, etc., but it's the shopping experience that comes with the catalog that generates sales. With the R&H catalog, I look at the catalog and then order online. But it's the catalog that gets me. Shane

I suppose it would be kind of cool to look back and see the progress, not to mention the difference in prices from 20 years ago. Yikes! I actually lied when I said that I always throw them away because I still have the original 9 consecutive hardback master catalogs from Cabela’s, 8 of them are still in their original shipping cardboard unopened. I opened the 1st year’s addition and just put it back in the shipping cardboard, since then they have just been accumulating. For you guys that are into collecting catalogs, are these hardback Cabela’s catalogs going to be worth any money, or should I pitch em?
