Im trying to decide between the big dawg and big nasty....from what ive gathered from previous posts and what people have said the big nasty is the ideal big blade rod, but I rarely throw big bladed bucktails. Without having any retailers around me, going an feeling first hand what they are like isnt an option so I am wondering if the feel of the rods compare to other st croix rods? I tend to like the feel of an XH rod more even if im not throwing big rubber all the time but I dont know how the big nasty feels. Im coming off of using TI XH rods. I understand the blanks are entirely different than the mojos or premiers but stiffness wise does the big dawg compare to the 8'6XH premier and the big nasty to the 8'0 H mojo? (again I understand that the weight and lenghts of the rods are different but those are the only two ive handled in person and could compare to)

thanks for the help!

I have used both, but do not own either, as they are my fishing partner's rods. However, in my opinion the big nasty is not a stiff enough rod for really cranking those figure 8's really fast when trying to trigger strikes. It does throw the blades nicely but I prefer my 9' XH Thorne Predator instead for blades. But, the 8'6" XH Big Dawg rod is a great rod. It throws baits with a stiffness to handle big baits, but has a very nice tip to give a good "pop" to the bait. My 8'6" XH premier is similar in stiffness, but does not have as nice of a tip for that "pop" to the bait.
