Posts: 291 Location: Madison, WI | Anyone have experience with the Pro Qualifier Goretex series of rain gear that Bass Pro offers? I know people who have been happy with the 100mph series stuff. Need to replace my set after 6 years and it appears this set will be going on sale shortly at around $130/$140 per piece. Also looking at the Frabill storm suit. Already owned Cabelas and Ganders products as well.

Posts: 582 | i have the Frabill FXE and the Cabelas x300. Like them both but the frabill is probably a little nicer. Its really built for fisherman. It ain't cheap and either is the cabela's. but i was in a pretty good storm last fall and i was dry when i got back in. It was pouring and i was a few miles by boat away from my dock. I have heard good about the BPS 100mph too. The one thing with goretex is it needs treating every once in a while or it will leak.

Posts: 311 Location: Ontario | I have the 100mph bibs and parka and got the Bone Dry for my wife. Both carry a lifetime warranty. The initial cost of my set was in the $650 range, wife's was well under half that. I exchange mine every year around the end of March, whether they leak or not. I've had a couple pairs that leak and a couple that haven't. Had five sets in five years. When you start to see the little rubberized patches around the zippers and flaps begin to peel up like a decal would, its getting ready to leak. That's been my experience, anyhow. The tops of the thighs were where I would get wet on the leaky sets. A buddy of mine uses Guidewear and like it also. Once you get past the cost for an inital set of 100mph, getting an fresh pair to start each season is a pretty good deal. Most years they upgrade things like cuffs, pockets etc. A fresh set or goretex is a pretty nice thing to have when its wet out. Like walking around inside the Fish Trap, totally waterproof. Bass Pro stands behind their product and with your receipt, they honour the warranty. The Bone Dry isn't as elaborate but offers good protection when it's new and carries the same warranty. 100mph is marked down/cleared out regularly, you certainly don't have to pay full pop. Add in the fact that you can upgrade it and it's a pretty good deal IMO. To be fair, leaky sets have blown a day or two on the water for me, so the waranty won't do you much good when you're 10 miles off shore by boat and another mile from the truck, but it's there when you get back to civilization. I've actually found BPS warranty to be oustaanding at the Ontario location, have exchanges reels, polarized glasses, rainwear and a defective TopRaider all without issue.

Posts: 87 | JBush said it all. The price is steep, but in my opinion, worth it. I bought the Pro Qualifier last year and have not had any issues. I recently noticed that my suit did not come with a liner. I believe they are supposed to and plan to contact BPS.

Posts: 582 | I have to say again, if you are going to shell out that kind of dough, give the FXE a look too.
