![]() | I'm thinking about playing hookey from work on Monday and fishing this lake. I've gone there a few times here and there, just wonder if anyone has any tips on this lake? I'd like to make the best out of being off of work even though being on the water anytime is better than being in a hardhat. Thanks.

Fished Silver lake on Saturday. Had two small follows before the winds shifted to N.E. Threw small to medium bucktails over the weeds. The follows came on the edge.

![]() | Fished there today and fished the west end and south shore. Raised 2 little ones. Seen some MONSTER carp swimming around. Weeds are super thick. And a lot of floating stuff on the surface

![]() | That's the norm? Any big ones come out of there regularly? Or at least 40+?

Posts: 229 Location: Plover, WI | There is always reports of upper 40's-50" seen every year. I've never seen anything that big. The biggest I've seen is probably uper 30's. The norm I'm talking about is the thick weeds and floating veg. Always there.

Haven't fished it in a few years. My biggest to date from that lake and I used to fish it extensively is 48". There are some big fish in there, just not very many. Some beautifully marked fish in the lake. There are also some relatively large pike. Good luck.. I might have to hit it again soon for some close to home fun.

![]() | I talked to a guy at the launch and he said its mainly smaller ones he gets out of there. But the couple I did raise were very pretty spotted muskies. So where do you kenosha guys go for size? Pewaukee or do you hit the Madison chain?

Posts: 317 | Silver has some very large fish in it. I have had up to 48" in my boat, and have friends get them that big. I lost a few that size as well. Last year I boated a 47". The very clear water makes it tough but they are there.

Posts: 229 Location: Plover, WI | I go up north for the bigger fish. I go to Silver because its close and just to go on quick trips, usually after work.

![]() | Yeah I understand. I'm just looking at learning new water because the fox chain is gonna start turning into a mad house and the fishing hasn't been all that good lately. I guess pewaukee is probably the route to go but problem is can't just go there after work

Posts: 83 Location: Antioch IL | I was there Saturday and lost a fish around 45" and my buddy caught a 12" pike and there was a 48" muskie that came in behind the pike.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | There are definitely some big fish in Silver, but they aren't always sitting in the shallow weeds. It's worth the trip if you're close and it's a smaller lake so doesn't take much time to fish. Good population of mid to upper 30" fish, and definitely (as the above post showed) some bigger fish to chase.
toothycritter88![]() |
| ||
![]() | Yeah I usually fish it casting in towards shore with my boat in usually 17ft and fishing the deep weed edge but all I have seen or caught is like 30" I live in Zion so its 30 minutes away

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Don't be afraid to fish parallel with the weed edges and even slide out deeper then where you're at. There are times when they'll be where you're casting, but I tend to do better fishing parallel with the weedlines out there, and just off of the weedlines.
toothycritter88![]() |
| ||
![]() | So your boat is on the weed edge and are you casting out or in? Or maybe slide out to 20ft and cast in?

The lake is only 464 acres...just fish it multiple times using different tactics and you will find what works best for you. Oh, make sure you follow the no wake rules...silver lake cop gives you a ticket at the launch if you don't.

It's on or just off the weed edge, and I'm casting parallel with the weeds (not out or in, but right along them). As the guy above said, it's a pretty quick lake to fish, just pay attention to the turns, fingers, changes in the weeds as those are key spots out there to concentrate on. The fish also like to suspend out there.

Posts: 229 Location: Plover, WI | I've actually had some luck drifting the weed flats (when the wind is right). Let me know when you will be out again toothy, maybe I'll go too.
