Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | I was wondering if the anti reverse bearings on an Abu C4 6600 are easy to change out? I'm assuming they are pressed in so they might be difficult to get in and out. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Posts: 1141 Location: NorthCentral WI | The bearing is not hard to replace. Definitely don't need to buy a new sideplate. Carefully put the sideplate on a smooth flat surface and tap it out. Tap the new on back into place using a socket approxiamately the same size as the bearing.

Posts: 246 | You can use a socket of the same diameter as the clutch bearing to press it out. The clutch bearings can be ordered from Mikes Reel Repair, if you don't mind the extra money and time for a delivery from Canada.

Posts: 219 | Go to Alan tani reel repair there is a Abu section. It talks you through pressing the old bearing out and new one in. Just done my first one today. Not to bad at all..

Posts: 219 | I used a 9mm on the out side a 14mm on the back of the side plate for support. Use a 1/4 in bolt and nut tighten from the backside. Will pull bearing out. Install new bearing same way. Make sure bearing is turned right way.., hope this helps

Posts: 219 | The c clamp is a great ideal PIKMASTER . It crossed my mind at the time. Think it will work better than the bolt. Thanks for sharing!!

Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | Where can I get an anti-reverse bearing from?? I called Abu today. First they told me they only sell it with the face plate. Then they said they may not even make that part anymore?? She did say I could send the reel to them and they'd give me 45% off a new, comparable reel. Revo Toro?? Is there any place to buy just the anti reverse bearing? Otherwise I may send the reel in and get something new..

Posts: 1141 Location: NorthCentral WI | I've always ordered parts from Chuck at the Sportsman's Repair in Mosinee. Or if you live close enough you can stop in there. He has all original Abu parts. He can repair rods too like busted guides, not like that ever happens, much. http://www.sportsmansrepair.com/
