| on the drive down to chi show from twin cities I kept wonderig "what do I even need",,,walked around the show on thurs helping set up a booth and happened on the Miusy innovations booth and the the vibration in my pocket wasnt the phone but the credit card saying 'let me out' Bulldawgs now have some REALLYcool UV colors,,if your at the show check em out!!!!!!! |

| for as effective as the bulldawgs already are its hard to imagine these new uv ones are going to be that much more effective. seems more like a marketing ploy to sell some more bulldawgs. not saying the uv wont possibly put a few more fish in the boat. but are they really going to be that much more effective than all the other dawgs already in everyones boxes. |

Considering I always buy at least a couple show color dawgs, I'm willing to pick up a couple and find out. I've played around with some other UV lures and they really 'glow' in the water even compared to other 'hot' colors.
They have UV colors in all sizes? All I heard about was the pounders...

| Shining under a blacklight in not UV. You cannot see the UV spectrum, you would need a special lens for it to show up.
That being said, I bet that spray product will save me some $$$. |

Location: Rhinelander. | When is there such a thing as too much glow. Seems I read an article sometime back that baits should only have a small amount of glow to them. Not sure where article was but just seemed to ring a bell. Can a bait glow too much? |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | The black light makes the bait look like it glows to us but there is no illuminating properties to it. It just reflects that wave length of light just like any color does so in a sense the fish should see it just like we see things in a normal light spectrum.
As far as bait fish goes I don't know if they reflect the UV range at all but if they don't then they should look like a dark object/silhouette in a slightly lighted background. |

| So I have heard and read much research and I will finally test some of this speculation next week. I cannot say to what extent musky can visualize UV light but I will be able to prove to the extent to which the bait/paint reflects UV light, if at all.
At the muskie shows all displays were bragging the UV products worked by demonstrating these baits fluoresce under Black light. This proves nothing, there is no black light underwater and further more it simply means it ABSORBS UV light and emits it as visible fluoresce.
I have access to a fluorometer and will check the wavelength of light reflected when UV light is used. THis is the only way to prove reflection of UV light as the Human eye cannot visualize UV light!
sorry for the little rant, but I need to know for myself and I figured others might like the info as well.
I will post my results on this forum when completed. |
