I traded an extra Ice fishing flasher I had to a guy for a 4-12 XH TI rod and a bunch of baits. I mostly got bulldawg type lures and crankbaits. Included were 3 kill'r eels. I have never really musky fished before and I gotta be honest. These look like lures that were more designed to catch the fisherman than the fish.

Anybody used them with any success?

They actually both catch fish and can be worked through some really shallow cover. Kind of a soft jerk bait type presentation that has produced some really exciting bites for me. With that said, hook-up ratio has not been good. If you get the hooks home, no issues. My touble is getting the hooks to stick; really do not throw much anymore because of this.

I've done well on both the 6" and 11". I tend to fish 'em like a glider, quick and erratic with an occasional pause. 1st cast with an 11" several years ago on LOTW, a 48 ate it at my feet. Firetiger. They caught bunches of fish during the "heyday" on the North End of Mille Lacs too. Very underrated .

So they are almost like a twitch bait if you want. Casting them and reeling them in probably won't do mush then.
Sorry for all the questions I am just trying to figure this all out. I got a pretty good Idea of what to do with all the bulldawgs I got. The topwater baits are just bigger versions of what I use bass fishing and so are the crankbaits. These were just kinda strange.

Exactly like a twitch bait. Short twitches make 'em come alive. Think of 'em as a tougher Senko on steroids. On the cast, I let 'em sink for a second or 2 then begin the retrieve. Experiment and have fun!

I don’t have the patience for them… It seems like an hour before I get them back to the boat. I can see an application for shallower water/thick cover with a fish already located.

Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion		They are great baits. Can also be easily modified to improve hooking percentages (we've added trebles to some without affecting action). We do a few other mods to these baits which greatly enhance their attractiveness to fish and make them unique. I'd tell everyone what those mods are but there are a few fellows out there who might see to it I don't fish again if I gave up the info! I don't want a case of broken arm/leg syndrome.

I believe that was the lure Greg Thomas was fishing when he won the PMT championship.
