Posts: 40 | I am looking at taking a trip to canyon lake canada with wife and child. Wondering if anyone has been there and how is fishing for muskies as well as walleye and other species. Also is there many islands and or sand beaches to explore and relax when they get tired of fishing? Also is lake pretty easy to navigate, thinking of taking own boat. thanks

Location: Hayward WI | Brent, I"ve been there a couple of times, though it's been several years. Muskies are numerous, what I'd call an action lake (many low 30" fish) with the chance of a larger one. I didn't fish walleye much, but with out much effort got a couple of meals. The lake fishes easy, it's long an narrow with many "fingers" where you can get away from wind if needed and has large bays of cabbage. We stayed at McIntosh Lodge http://www.mcintoshlodge.ca/ place is nice and clean and protected. It's a typical shield lake with lots of rock and not much for sandy beaches, though there is a sandy area by the boat launch next to McIntosh.

Posts: 78 | Ive been there several times as well. Went there last a couple of years ago and caught 16 and averaged 38'', although you could sit in certain bays and catch numbers of 30-35 inch fish all day actually. Didn't see as many big fish as we had in the past as the fishing was slower especially with the walleyes. My dad usually fishes for the walleye's and some years we have trouble catching walleyes under 25 inches. It seems every year we went there they were always stacked up in a different spot of the lake. As for the muskies, if you find a weedy bay the fish are always there, specially at night. Most of the bays have weeds in the middle of the bays. That is where you'll contact most of the fish. A lot of people fish along the shores and contact nothing so keep that in mind. I could mark up a map if you want with great spots to try for ski's and what to use in those area's as well as good walleye spots. Edited by swanezy 2/7/2012 11:43 AM

I have seen some big fish in there (50") ish and caught a few in the upper 40's but you will mostly be dealing with fish in the 30-40" class Edited by Musky Brian 2/8/2012 2:33 PM
