Anthony, there are two ways I've seen them attached.
One way is to counter-bore a hole the same size as the grub thickness and about a half inch into the bait so the grub tail can be glued securely. Another way is to take a coiled spring and expand or pull it apart so so that you attach one end in a hole you had previously drilled into the bait and then attach the grub to the other by rotating it around until it butts up securely against the end of the bait.
